As presaged in her letter of 21/7/24 to the Planning Officer Mrs Lucy Minting, Dr Kate Felus has now written to the Planning Officer Mrs Becky Jones to alert her to the impending application to Historic England on behalf of the Salisbury Cathedral Close Preservation Society to have the gardens of Leaden Hall placed on the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. Dr Felus has requested that the planning application process be paused pending Historic England’s decision. Such a pause should not have any impact on the obligation to maintain either the house or gardens pending a decision on the outcome.
Additionally, the Trustees have been delighted to see that the national Gardens Trust, which is a statutory consultee in the English planning system, has also written to ask that the planning application be paused pending Historic England’s decision because “evidence for its inclusion (in the Historic England Register) seems strong”.
